Armadale

Hughesdale

Part of the cultural melting pot that is the City of Monash, Hughesdales name comes from a former Mayor of Oakleigh, James Hughes. Bound by Princes Highway at its north, North Road at its south, Poath Road at its west and Warrigal Road at its east, Hughesdale shares its postcode 3166 with Oakleigh, Oakleigh East and Huntingdale.

An English barrister named Charles Skinner bought 84 acres of land in an area known as Gardiner in the middle of the nineteenth century. He named it after the Malvern Hills in England – and present-day Malvern was born.
